Oral Presentation (In-person only)
| Original research, Audits & QI projects Content in relation to anaesthesia, intensive care, pain medicine or resuscitation sciences | Principal author should be a medical practitioner holding an appointment in anaesthesia (with or without pain medicine or intensive care) |

The abstract should follow the following structure:
TITLE, OBJECTIVES, METHOD, RESULTS, CONCLUSIONS
For case reports/series:
TITLE, BACKGROUND, CASE PRESENTATION (REPORT), DISCUSSION
The title of the abstract – should be brief but adequately descriptive. Lower case letters should be used except at the beginning of the title and unless indicated.
Author’s name(s) should be given only as surnames followed by the initial(s). Prefixes such as Mr, Dr or Professor should not be mentioned. The names of all authors and the places of work (one place of affiliation per person only) should be provided.
The text of the abstract – should not exceed 300 words.

- MS Word docx file format
- Language – English (UK)
- Margins 2.54 cm all sides
- Font – Times New Roman Regular (size 12, colour black).
- Line spacing 1.5
- Text justified
- No indentations
The author/s should take full public responsibility for the research work and the contents reported in the abstract.
If the work has been previously presented or published, in whole or in part, this should be stated clearly. This does not disqualify a paper but must be stated when submitting the paper.
Ethical approval – it is assumed that prior ethical approval would have been obtained for interventional studies and a copy of ethical approval should be submitted where relevant.

Please note that there is no facility to submit hard copies directly to the COAISL office.
Abstracts not conforming to the above instructions will be rejected.
The College of Anaesthesiologists & Intensivists of Sri Lanka reserves the right to allocate selected free papers to either oral or poster presentations.
The corresponding author of each successful paper provisionally selected will be informed by email. Please note that NO amendments to the submitted abstract (including the number of authors) would be entertained.
All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the COAISL Scientific Committee. Results will be emailed to corresponding authors along with further instructions.
Inability to present a paper accepted for presentation should be communicated by email to the COAISL secretariat [email protected]. Failure to present an accepted paper will be considered an episode of academic and scientific misconduct.
The presenting author of the selected papers must register for COAISL prior to the paper being finally accepted for presentation. Other authors who wish to attend COAISL must register separately. Registrants please contact the COAISL Congress Secretariat (Email: [email protected]).
The poster presentation guidelines and instructions will be sent to the corresponding authors of chosen abstracts.
Each poster presentation will be allowed 3 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes for questions. Multimedia facilities will be made available.
The oral presentation guidelines and instructions will be sent to the corresponding authors of chosen abstracts.
Each oral presentation will be allowed 8 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes for discussion. Multimedia facilities will be made available.
Accepted abstracts will be published in the book of abstracts of COAISL, which will be available for downloading from the COAISL website.
The College of Anaesthesiologists & Intensivists of Sri Lanka reserves the right to make alterations and to edit the title and / or the text to improve the quality.
